Former NSW Waratah and Wallabies five-eighth Scott Bowen will join NSW Rugby in January as the Union's new High Performance Manager.

Bowen, who played 49 matches for the Waratahs and nine Tests for the Wallabies, joins NSW from Shute Shield side Eastern Suburbs where he had been head coach since 2006.

"Scott is a fantastic acquisition for NSW Rugby," said Jim L'Estrange, NSWRU Chief Executive Officer.

"His coaching credentials are extremely strong and he has a great eye for talent coming through the ranks which is so important in the professional game.

"He is a Waratah through and through and were really looking forward to him coming on board early in the new year."
