Pre-season AFL grand final moved forward

The AFL will move the pre-season final forward by one day so it does not clash with Melbourne's bushfire benefit concert.

Either Telstra Dome in Melbourne or Adelaide's AAMI Stadium will host the NAB Cup decider on Friday, March 13.

The MCG and SCG will host Sound Relief concerts the following day.

It means one of the grand finalists will have a six-day break, with the semi-finals to be played on Friday and Saturday nights the week before.

"Every section of the community is working extremely hard to make a contribution to assist those people who have been affected by the devastating Victorian bushfires," said AFL operating officer Gill McLachlan.

"The benefit concert at the MCG on March 14 will be another major step and the AFL has made the decision to play the NAB Cup Grand Final on Friday night, March 13, if the game is scheduled to be played in Victoria at Telstra Dome or in South Australia at AAMI Stadium."

The league also moved the NAB Cup quarter-final between Richmond and Collingwood from Saturday to this Thursday.

Telstra Dome is unavailable on Saturday because of soccer's A-League grand final between Melbourne and Adelaide.
