Collingwood captain Nick Maxwell will miss Friday night's AFL NAB Cup semi-final against Essendon at Etihad Stadium.
Josh Fraser is also out of the squad, while fellow ruckman Chris Bryan is set to play.
As expected, the Bombers will be without top midfielder Mark McVeigh, who has an ankle injury.
Essendon have also rested Andrew Lovett and veteran defender Dustin Fletcher and recalled Brent Stanton.
