Titans say Manly deserve favouritism

The Titans have to find a way to pull the plug on Manly's energy supply to spring an NRL upset at Brookvale Oval on Monday night.

Gold Coast coach John Cartwright said he'd been hugely impressed by the way Manly dominated Melbourne on Monday night with a seemingly endless supply of energy.

"Anyone who can dominate Melbourne the way they did are obviously in good form," said Cartwright who'll tackle the high flying Sea Eagles without halfback Scott Prince and centre Mat Rogers.

"Manly have got a lot class, a lot of experience and a lot of pace," he said.

"The other night (against Melbourne) they were just full of energy and that's the key to knocking over sides.

"It's something we have to nullify and bounce back into them."

Titans forward Anthony Laffranchi said it would be a tough night down at Brookvale Oval against an in-form and confident Manly.

Manly will start very short priced favourites and the injury-hit Titans will struggle to find a supporter in the stands.

"They warrant the favouritism tag, they've beaten Melbourne in Melbourne and they're back home at Brookie, they should be confident," he said.

"You have to stay positive, you can't be kicking stones at this time of the year.

"That's the beauty of rugby league, you have to get up for another big game and we've got another big game against Manly on Monday night."

Dragon's duo Brett Morris and Matt Cooper exposed the Titans right side defence last weekend but Laffranchi said Manly has weaknesses too.

"Morris and Cooper score a lot of tries but young David Mead and Joseph Tomane are getting better with every game."

Teammate Greg Bird and Bodene Thompson both trained on Thursday after reports they were injured in a physical training session on Wednesday.
