Under-20s player stood down by Titans

The Gold Coast Titans have stood down promising under 20s rugby league player Ronnie Alovili indefinitely without pay following allegations of a serious off-field incident.

The Nine Network reported police will claim Alovili, 19, a former Australian Schoolboys representative, allegedly assaulted several women with a beer bottle at Brisbane's Urban Hotel last month.

According to the report one of the women bashed required surgery to have a titanium plate inserted in her head.

Police refused to confirm any details when contacted by AAP on Tuesday.

The club issued a brief statement late on Tuesday saying it had conducted a preliminary investigation into the matter and accepted the player's offer to stand down pending the matter being resolved in the future by the Queensland Police and the courts.

"The club considers this a very serious matter," the club's managing director Michael Searle said.

"The matter is now before the courts and we are not prepared to prejudice the case by commenting about the incident."

Queensland police confirmed on Tuesday night three men had been charged following an alleged assault at a Spring Hill unit on April 17.

The men allegedly became involved in an altercation with four women and another man inside the unit on Wickham Terrace about 11.45pm, police said in a statement.

Two women aged 19 and 23 from Eagleby, a 20-year-old Loganlea woman and a 20-year-old Upper Coomera man received facial injuries including fractures in the incident.

The three men - a 21-year-old Leichhardt man and two men aged 19 and 20 from Inala - were charged with assault occasioning bodily harm while in company.

The 21-year-old and the 20-year-old have been remanded in custody. They are due to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on June 7 and May 12, respectively.

The 19-year-old was bailed and is due to reappear on June 17.
