Blazing Queensland winger Rod Davies has re-signed with the rising Reds for another two Super rugby seasons.

Rockhampton-born Davies showed Reds fans why he has the nickname of `Rocket' by racing over for five tries in eight games as the Reds finished fifth this season.

The 21-year-old's new two-year deal keeps the former schoolboy sprint champion at Ballymore after he started 2010 as the fourth-ranked winger in Ewen McKenzie's squad.

"Rocket scored some exciting tries this season and really got the crowd on its feet every time he touched the ball," said coach McKenzie.

"The great thing is that he's still only young and has plenty of improvement left in his game."

McKenzie said off-season hard work had paid off for Davies, who had a disappointing year in 2009 after coming back to rugby from rugby league.

"Because of the work he'd put in he emerged from the pack at the start of the year made people sit up and take notice.

Davies is currently sidelined with a torn hamstring, ruling him out of a possible place in the Wallabies squad to be announced on Thursday.
