Cousins, Tigers to meet on Monday

Richmond have stressed that the call on Ben Cousins' AFL future will be a mutual decision.

Coach Damien Hardwick has confirmed that the club and Cousins will meet on Monday, with a decision to be made later in the week.

There is widespread speculation the Tigers will not offer the Brownlow Medallist another one-year contract, ending his tumultuous playing career.

Publicly and privately, the Tigers say they will discuss Cousins' future with him on Monday, rather than simply telling him their decision.

"We'll have a meeting with Ben on Monday and then make an informed decision later in the week, whenever that will be," Hardwick said.

"There are a number of factors that come into it, we'll sit down with our recruiting staff, our list management and decide how many draft picks we need to have, decide what our talent base is and make an informed decision from there."

Cousins was among Richmond's best in their 89-point thrashing from Carlton on Saturday.

There was more drama surrounding the midfielder during the match when he limped off the field with a lower leg injury.

There was initial speculation he had suffered a broken bone in his leg, something Cousins and team officials were laughing about post-match.

Channel Seven announced on Friday they would screen Cousins' documentary on August 25-26.

The two-part documentary is Cousins' project and details his drug addiction and rehabilitation.

AFL chief executive Andrew Demetriou has criticised Seven for how they have promoted the program, saying "they are all about ratings and exploitation".
