We've made our own luck: Anasta

Sydney Roosters captain Braith Anasta says his side has made its own luck to stay alive in the race for the NRL premiership.

Following a report suggesting the Roosters have benefited from more than their fair share of good fortune in wins over the Wests Tigers and Penrith, Anasta has pointed to a strong run home from his side.

"The Roosters have won nine out of their last 12 games so, if you consider that lucky, well we're a pretty lucky team," he told reporters at Sydney Airport on Thursday.

"My Dad always told me that you make your own luck.

"I don't think it's any different in this situation and a few of the boys were talking about buying some Powerball tickets while we're up there, we might win Lotto as well."

The Roosters conjured an unlikely win over the Tigers two weeks ago after a brilliant Anasta field goal sent the game into golden point extra time.

They also benefited from early injuries to Panthers stars Michael Jennings (ankle) and Luke Lewis (concussion).

Anasta and his team-mates will fly to Brisbane on Thursday afternoon ahead of their preliminary final against Gold Coast and have a final training session at Suncorp Stadium.

The skipper said his young side, which is bidding to become the first to go from wooden-spooners to premiers since 1934, was ready for the do or die clash.

"We've had a great week, good preparation once again and the last three weeks have probably been the best three weeks of our season in terms of preparation," he said.

"We've just stepped it up a notch and made sure that we've been focused at training and trying to make sure that we're sharp and crisp and ready for semi-final football."
