Queensland Reds fullback Peter Hynes faces at least a month on the sidelines after being booked in for knee surgery.

Hynes will undergo arthroscopic surgery on his troublesome left knee next week.

A Reds release said "a specific time frame hasn't been placed on Hynes' return".

The Reds confirmed it was a repeat of the same knee injury which interrupted his 2010 Wallabies campaign and forced him to miss the entire 2011 pre-season.

The Reds' most capped player with 87 appearances re-aggravated his knee complaint during their 30-6 last round loss to NSW Waratahs.
