Power to make changes after belting

Port Adelaide were the last team to beat Geelong at Skilled Stadium in a five-point AFL thriller.

That was round 21, 2007 and it represented the Power's last high-water mark.

A month later, the Cats smashed them by a grand final-record 119 points.

Four years later, Geelong has a home-ground winning streak of 24 and the Power look light years away from another finals appearance.

After Sunday's 79-point embarrassment at Skilled Stadium, Port coach Matthew Primus was at a loss to explain why his team's intensity keeps dropping away.

But he is adamant it is due to attitude, not talent.

Port were only seven points behind at quarter-time and led the tackle count 13-4 - after that, it was all one-way Geelong traffic.

The Power are winless after three games and now must regroup for Saturday night's Showdown against Adelaide, who will be filthy after their home loss to Fremantle.

Primus conceded there would have to be personnel changes, with Brett Ebert and Steven Salopek likely to be recalled.

"There will be fresh faces coming into the team - it's probably nearly gone, the same group," Primus said.

"We'll have to find a 22 next week who can perform over four quarters and regardless of who we're playing, we need a win.

"I believe in the group, what we're doing and the path we're heading down - it's just at the moment, they're not producing."

Primus was reasonably pleased with the efforts of his defenders and forwards, but Port's midfield was smashed.

It resulted in a 72-36 inside-50m count against them.

"They (the defenders) are being let down by everyone across our whole team at the moment, just how many inside 50s came out of the stoppages and the turnover, it's disappointing," he said.

"They showed if we can keep a team to 50-55 (inside 50s), well, we're a chance to win a game.

"But you can't do it with 70 and only 30-odd yourself."
