Milne accepts AFL reprimand for striking

St Kilda star forward Stephen Milne has accepted a reprimand after admitting to striking Carlton's Aaron Joseph.

A penalty discount for Milne's previous clean record meant the Saint would not have risked being suspended for Saturday night's AFL elimination final against Sydney, even if he fought the charge.

But his guilty plea, to striking Joseph, means he carries 70.31 demerit points into the finals series, rather than the 93.75 it would have been had he contested the charge and lost.

Joseph will pay a $900 fine for stepping on Milne's hand, the only other charge arising from the weekend's matches, meaning there was no need for the tribunal to sit.
