Gram dropped for Hawthorn clash

Brisbane rookie Jason Gram has been dumped from the Lion's senior team for Sunday's AFL clash at the Gabba with Hawthorn, but the 19-year-old has been told he's not paying the price for a costly error against Fremantle last week.

Gram made way as the Lions named premiership players Alastair Lynch, Darryl White and Clark Keating in their final 22-man squad for the Hawks, who have won their last four matches.

White missed last Saturday's three-point loss to the Dockers at Subiaco Oval, where Gram was devastated after his second match for a basic turnover during a tense final quarter.

But Lions coach Leigh Matthews said there was no way Gram's mistake would be considered by the match committee because the Lions had plenty of chances to win after the error.

Rookie Luke Weller, who made his debut three matches ago, was also left out while Beau McDonald will miss at least the next month with a knee injury suffered against the Dockers.

The third-placed Lions must win to keep their heads above a congested finals race, with three teams tied just two points behind.
