Vautin resigns from Manly board
Former Test player Paul Vautin resigned from the Manly Football Club board, The Daily Telegraph reported.
Vautin, one of the club's most prominent former players and a rugby league commentator, announced two weeks ago he would stand down as chairman and board member at the annual general meeting in December.
The newspaper said he decided to resign now, claiming he wanted to prevent the embattled Sea Eagles from further haemorrhaging.
"Under the current circumstances I feel as though the timing is right for me to go", Vautin said in a hand written resignation, a copy of which was obtained by the newspaper.
"I have only done my very best for this club as a player and a board member and I leave now with my head held high and my dignity intact."
