Newcastle has agreed to terms with former Canberra NRL prop Luke Davico and ex-Super 12 rugby player Milton Thaiday.

Davico, who played 176 games for Canberra, has linked with the club for two years.

He is recovering from a torn pectoral muscle sustained in 2004 and re-injured earlier this year during a brief stint with English Super League club Wigan.

He will undergo a medical examination at Newcastle before attending the Knights' NRL clash against the Sydney Roosters at EnergyAustralia Stadium.

"Being part of the next two campaigns for the Knights alongside the likes of Danny Buderus and Andrew Johns is something I am very much looking forward to," Davico said.

"I know results on the field this year have been a bit sparse, but I'm very confident that the club will turn things around in the short term and I'm glad I can be a part of that."

Injury-ravaged Newcastle ended a 13-game losing run with a 28-24 victory over Penrith last weekend.

It is the equal fifth worst season start in Australian rugby league history.

Former Waratahs back Thaiday, who joined the club earlier this year, has been re-signed until the end of 2007 after scoring five tries in his six NRL games to date.

"I was very grateful to the Knights for giving me this opportunity a few months ago," Thaiday said.
