Zdrilic shines for Sydney FC in 1-0 win

Japanese great Kazuyoshi "Kazu" Miura made his A-League debut but it was forgotten striker David Zdrilic who turned hero in Sydney FC's 1-0 win over the Queensland Roar at Aussie Stadium.

The former Socceroo has played second fiddle to the likes of Dwight Yorke and Sasho Petrovski at Sydney so far this season.

And with Miura in the mix for the next two months, the 31-year-old admits his chances to shine up front will likely be limited for the rest of the season.

Coach Pierre Littbarski gave Zdrilic his opportunity with Yorke away on international duty and Miura still finding his feet at the club.

And the skipper didn't disappoint, scoring his first goal of the season in the 54th minute much to the relief of the 13,030-strong crowd and Littbarski, who bluntly labelled this match one of Sydney's worst ever.

"Obviously we've got a lot of good attacking players ... I know now that I'm not going to get many chances," said Zdrilic, who was starting just his second game in the A-League after being hampered by a back injury during pre-season.

"Dwight went away this week, we brought in another good player in Kazu. When I get a chance I know I've got to take it."

The victory kept Sydney on top of the table, ahead of Adelaide on goal difference, while Queensland stayed put in sixth, seven points adrift of the leaders.

Neither coach was happy with their side's performance as both teams failed to stamp any authority on the game.

Sydney and Queensland boast arguably the two most attack-minded squads in the competition, but little of that potency was on show - an unfortunate circumstance considering the level of interest in this game in Japan because of "Kazu".
