Lions bring in two for AFL debuts

Brisbane promoted two first-gamers for Saturday night's crunch round-two AFL match against Essendon as it made four changes.

Brad Scott (hamstring) joined Josh Drummond (shoulder) as injuries, while Anthony Corrie and Daniel Merrett were dropped.

Wayde Mills and Rhan Hooper, both 18, are former Queensland under-18 players and the Lions picked them up in last November's national draft.

Robert Copeland and Jayden Attard will also come into the side.

The Lions are coming off a 77-point loss to Geelong and also finished last season with three losses.

Adding to the importance of their first home match of the season is their strong rivalry in the last five years with Essendon.

Brisbane beat the Bombers in their round-one NAB Cup match and have also won nine of their last 10 regular-season games.

The Bombers dropped Jason Winderlich and recalled Ricky Dyson.

West Coast will be without Daniel Chick (calf) and Ashley Hansen (hamstring) for this Sunday's away match against Adelaide, but the club expects them to only miss one week.

The absence of Chick will particularly hurt the Eagles after his game last week on St Kilda key forward Aaron Hamill.

Richmond and St Kilda reacted to their round-one losses with three unforced changes apiece.

The Tigers are coming off a 115-point hiding from the Western Bulldogs and they left out Adam Pattison, David Rodan and Richard Tambling.

Ruckman Greg Stafford will return from injury, while Brent Hartigan and Will Thursfield were promoted.

The Saints brought back skillful defender Xavier Clarke, Aaron Fiora and Leigh Montagna for Allan Murray, Fergus Watts and Justin Peckett.

Melbourne also reacted to its surprise opening loss to Carlton by dropping three players - Paul Johnson, Nathan Brown and Shannon Motlop.

They made way for Chris Johnson, Brock McLean and Paul Wheatley ahead of Saturday's match against the Western Bulldogs.

McLean has recovered from a hip injury and Wheatley is over a virus.

The Bulldogs announced no changes, although Robert Murphy was in doubt during the week with a groin problem.

Fremantle's poor game in Launceston against Hawthorn cost three players their spots, with Heath Black, Ryan Murphy and James Walker making way for Antoni Grover, Roger Hayden and Brett Peake.

Carlton brought in Callum Chambers for Brad Fisher, who is out for three weeks with a hamstring injury.

Pre-season premier Geelong further boosted its impressive strength for Saturday's home game against the Kangaroos, recalling Kent Kingsley and Steve Johnson.

Henry Playfair faces a month out with a shoulder injury and Andrew Mackie was left out, while the `Roos made no changes.
