Mike Potter's St Helens extended their lead at the top of the Super League with a crushing 68-22 win over Castleford on Sunday.

New Zealand's Tony Puletua was the star of the show as he ran in four tries in a 12-try romp.

Jon Wilkin, whose performances have been earning rave reviews from Potter all season, also shone with a hat-trick, while Leon Pryce ran in a double.

Former Newcastle Knights prop Mitchell Sargent scored for hapless Castleford, but the match was overshadowed by a serious injury to home player Joe Westerman, who seemed to go into spasms after colliding with a Saints player.

Wigan ran in nine tries to see off bottom club Celtic Crusaders 44-10 at the JJB Stadium.

The Crusaders had seized the early advantage when Luke Dyer touched down in the corner. But four tries in the first half and five after the break turned the tide.

Sean O'Loughlin, Pat Richards and Sam Tonkins all scored doubles to secure a much-needed win for Wigan, following Easter defeats to St Helens and Catalans Dragons.

Justin Morgan's in-form Hull KR continued their solid start to the season with a 32-12 comeback win at Harlequins.

Despite trailing by four points at the break, the visitors ran in four second-half tries with Paul Cooke their inspiration scoring one and creating three.

Former Manly centre Steven Bell was one of eight Catalans Dragons try-scorers as they cruised to a 38-6 victory over Salford City Reds on Saturday.

Stefan Ratchford opened the scoring for the Salford but it was one-way traffic after that as Kevin Walters's men ran riot at Stade Gilbert Brutus.

Salford had won their last three Super League games but doubles from Dimitri Pelo and Jean-Philippe Baile, as well as scores from Remi Casty, Jerome Guisset, Kane Bentley and Bell put Reds to the sword.

New Zealand international Brent Webb scored twice for reigning champions Leeds Rhinos, as they thumped high-flying Huddersfield 34-6 at the Galpharm Stadium.

Ryan Hall, Danny McGuire and Matt Diskin also got in on the act for Leeds while Michael Lawrence picked up a consolation.

Former Manly star Chris Hicks scored a stunning hat-trick as Warrington put their woeful early-season form behind them to hammer Bradford 58-22 at Odsal.

The 32-year-old fullback, who played in Manly's 2007 Grand Final defeat to Melbourne Storm, also kicked nine goals for the Wolves as Tony Smith's men scored ten tries.

Warrington, who have now won three Super League matches this season, dominated throughout with ex-New Zealand Warriors second-row Louis Anderson also getting in on the act.

Bradford, now with back-to-back defeats since beating Leeds on Good Friday, ran in four tries but the former Sydney Roosters and Parramatta forward David Solomona's double was in vain.

Wakefield continue to be the surprise package in 2009 as they came from behind to beat Hull 21-14 at the KC Stadium.
