Leeds join beaten leaders St Helens

Super League leaders St Helens suffered a 22-20 defeat to spirited Wakefield to end a seven-game drought for the visitors on Merseyside.

Sam Obst and Ryan Atkins joined double try scorer Scott Grix on the scoresheet on Friday for Wakefield with Chris Dean (2), Leon Pryce, Francis Meli and Ade Gardner doing the business for St Helens.

Leeds went joint top after late tries from Danny Buderus and Lee Smith gave the champions a 24-14 win over Hull KR.

The Rhinos trailed 14-6 early in the second half at Headingley after Rovers tries from Kris Welham and Ben Cockayn.

But Jamie Peacock began the fightback then Buderus and Smith, who also kicked four goals, went over in the final six minutes.

In other action Hull beat bottom side Celtic Crusaders 22-6 while Castleford beat Salford 18-12.
