South Sydney have re-signed veteran NRL prop forward Luke Stuart for the next two years.

A fixture at the Rabbitohs since the club was re-instated to the competition in 2002, Stuart is set to play out his days in the red and green.

The 32-year-old is in career best form having been named club best and fairest in 2008 and also earning his first representative jersey this year when selected for the City Origin team.

Rabbitohs chief executive Shane Richardson said Stuart's re-signing had been a priority for the club.

"Luke Stuart has been one of this club's best players over the past five years, as he has matured as a footballer and as a person as well," Richardson said.

"He is without doubt our most consistent performer, he is the quintessential professional rugby league player, a respected member of the team and a role model to our younger players."

Stuart, who started his professional career with Cronulla in 1998, said he wanted to see out his career with the Rabbitohs.

"I'm really enjoying my football at the moment and this club is definitely where I want to play my football," he said.

"There are some exciting times ahead for the Rabbitohs and I'm pleased that I will be a part of that."
