Green heads list of Demons forced out

Melbourne will submit Brad Green for season-ending wrist surgery among a staggering seven changes for Sunday's Canberra AFL meeting with Sydney.

Green, who will have surgery on Tuesday to repair a fractured scaphoid bone, is one of six Demons forced out by injury or illness.

They also lost Brock McLean (knee), Mark Jamar (quad), Jack Grimes (back), James Frawley (back) and Neville Jetta (flu).

The heavy injury toll was not enough to save veteran star forward Russell Robertson, who was dropped from the side in a worrying sign for the 30-year-old's future career prospects.

Among the inclusions was 19-year-old midfielder Jordie McKenzie, elevated from the rookie list to make his AFL debut.

The Swans made four changes, with Ted Richards, who punctured his lung against Carlton last round, the only player forced out.

Paul Bevan, Craig Bird and Patrick Veszpremi were all dropped from the side that faded badly against the Blues.

Adelaide and Port Adelaide each made two changes for Sunday's showdown at AAMI Stadium.

The Power regained midfield star Shaun Burgoyne from injury, for his first match since round three, and key defender Troy Chaplin from suspension.

The Crows brought in Nathan Van Berlo and Robert Shirley to replace David Mackay (hamstring) and Richard Douglas.

Richmond regained Nathan Brown, Ben Cousins and Trent Cotchin from injury for Sunday's MCG clash with Essendon, along with recalling Adam Pattison.

The Bombers regained Angus Monfries and recalled Nathan Lovett-Murray, dropping Sam Lonergan and Heath Hocking.

The Tigers sent midfielder Mark Coughlan back to the VFL for the third time this season and also dropped key-position player Alex Rance following the draw against North Melbourne.

They dumped Shane Tuck and Angus Graham on Thursday night.
