Melbourne have re-signed ruckman Mark Jamar, effectively closing off another potential AFL trade for Port Adelaide.

The Power had reportedly been keen to recruit the Demons' most experienced ruckman, but Jamar has signed a one-year contract extension.

Key position player Brad Miller has also re-committed to Melbourne.

Jamar has played 73 senior games since his 2003 debut and Miller, who first played in 2003, has managed 127 matches.

They are two of the most experienced players on the young Demons list.

"We are really pleased that Brad and Mark have signed contract extensions with Melbourne," Demons list manager Tim Harrington said in a statement.

"They are both experienced players at the club and at 26 years of age we expect them both to play an important role for the team next year."
