England lock Simon Shaw is set to find out over the next few days the full extent of the shoulder injury he sustained in last weekend's Six Nations loss to Ireland.

The Wasps second row forward, who went off in the opening minutes of England's Grand Slam ending 20-16 defeat by Ireland at Twickenham, saw a specialist on Monday and the result of a scan on his a/c joint are set to be considered by team medical staff on Tuesday.

England also confirmed on Monday that full-back Delon Armitage suffered rib cartilage damage early in the second half.

No timescale has yet been set for the return of either Shaw or Armitage.

Both players will have the benefit of an extra week in which to recover as the Six Nations does not resume until March 13 when England are away to old foes Scotland at Murrayfield.

England manager Martin Johnson is keeping his starting XV in camp this week along with Leicester lock Louis Deacon, Northampton full-back Ben Foden and Bath prop David Wilson, who all came off the bench against Ireland.
