Shillington free to take on Rabbitohs

Canberra prop David Shillington will be free to line up against South Sydney's monster pack in the NRL on Sunday, after he took an early guilty plea for a careless high tackle charge.

It's a major boost for the Raiders, who with Shillington on board, have the size to match the Rabbitohs up front.

The Queensland Origin representative was charged with a grade one offence by the NRL's match review committee, but won't have to sit out a game.

Promising Brisbane rookie Matt Gillett will miss the next month of football with a knee problem, but at least he won't have a suspension next to his name as well, after also taking the early guilty plea.

Gillett was charged with a grade one dangerous contact, leading with his feet - but has escaped penalty.

The Warriors' Ukuma Ta'ai, the third player charged by the match review committee, also took an early guilty plea for a grade one dangerous tackle charge, and will be available to play against Melbourne on ANZAC Day.

There were no players charged from Monday night's battle between Melbourne and Manly, won 18-16 by the Sea Eagles.
