Ablett, Moloney no certainty for Suns

Gold Coast and Melbourne have question marks over notable names for their AFL match this Sunday at the `Gabba.

There is speculation that Suns captain Gary Ablett has calf soreness, while Brent Moloney will try to retain his senior berth a few days after losing the vice captaincy after an off-field incident.

Ablett failed to train on Thursday, but is expected to be fit for the match.

Moloney found himself in trouble after being asked to leave a Melbourne bar early on Monday morning because he was too drunk.

Demons coach Dean Bailey would not guarantee that Moloney will stay in the side, but hinted he might have suffered enough punishment.

"The greatest thing to take away from Brent - what he holds incredibly dear to his heart - is getting into the leadership group because he worked really hard to be vice-captain," Bailey said on Thursday.

"That is a pretty severe penalty to take away from him, something that he treasures enormously.

"How he's been training the last couple of days and his approach around the club (have) been pretty good.

"We've got a main training session tomorrow and if he gets through that he will be seriously considered, no doubt."

The Demons brought Ricky Petterd, Addam Maric and James Strauss into their squad, while Gold Coast have already left out three players.

Apart from Campbell Brown's suspension, they have also left out Nathan Krakouer and Harley Bennell.

The Suns brought six players into their squad - veteran ruckman Josh Fraser, Josh Toy and potential first gamers Matt Shaw, Luke Russell, Hayden Jolly and Jack Hutchins.
