Former Canberra Raiders fullback Clinton Schifcofske scored 12 points as Crusaders caused one of the shocks of the season in their 32-6 win over Huddersfield that cost the Giants top spot in the Super League.

The Welsh side, who went into the day rock bottom, ran in six tries against the Giants, with former Wests Tiger Rhys Hanbury grabbing a first-half score.

Jason Chan had opened the scoring for the Crusaders as they ended Huddersfield's run of four straight wins.

Kiwi secondrower Hep Cahill also scored his first try for the Crusaders since moving from Melbourne Storm.

Former Sydney Rooster Jordan Tansey then crossed with Schifcofske helping himself to a try and four goals.

Former Wests star Brett Hodgson helped himself to another 20 points as Warrington took advantage of Huddersfield's slip to leapfrog them with a 60-0 thrashing of Salford City Reds.

The Wolves ran in ten tries with Joel Monaghan getting his name on the scoresheet.

Surprise package Castleford also blew the chance to go back to the top as Wakefield fought back from 24-4 down to snatch a 28-24 win.

One-time Gold Coast Titans fullback Richie Mathers got the Tigers off to a flier with a fourth minute try and they romped into a winning position with half an hour to play.

Back came the cash-strapped Wildcats and 12 points from youngster Josh Griffin helped the visitors to their third win of the season.

Pat Richards scored twice as Wigan won a thriller against arch-rivals St Helens 28-24 to deny former Royce Simmons' side top spot.

Saints had led 10-4 at half time, but Richards crossed twice in the second half and Liam Farrell scored with the last play of the game to win it for Wigan.

Scott Dureau scored twice as the Catalan Dragons won a gripping encounter with Harlequins 37-30.

The 24-year-old crossed twice in the first half as the Catalans scraped their fourth straight win but they had to survive an almighty second-half comeback before sealing the win.

The Dragons had led 22-6 lead at half time only to trail 30-28 in the closing stages before Cyril Stacul's try and a Dureau drop goal, which took his haul to 19 points, clinched it.

The colourful career of Willie Mason looks set to take another twist as he was forced to watch from the sidelines as Hull KR slumped to a 36-18 derby defeat against Hull FC.

The former Canterbury Bulldog, who has been linked to a move to rugby union, was de-registered by the Robins earlier in the week over a passport complication and replaced by ex-Canberra Raider Michael Dobson.

Hull led 16-12 at the break after tries from Kirk Yeaman, Sean Long and debutant Martin Gleeson with Dobson kicking two goals after tries from Matt Cook and Kris Welham for the visitors.

Richard Whiting, Tom Briscoe and Yeaman's second in the second-half won it while Ben Cockayne scored the Robins' only try after the break.

Danny Buderus' late try sealed Leeds Rhinos 30-22 win at fierce rivals Bradford Bulls.

Former England centre Keith Senior was also on the scoresheet for the Rhinos but it was Buderus' 78th minute score that settled it.
