France have named 12 Super League players in an 18-man squad for the one-off rugby league Test match against England at Toulouse's Ernst-Wallon Stadium on Friday.

France coach John Monie called up 10 players from Catalan Dragons, currently third in the Super League, and one each from Harlequins RL and Leeds.

Former Warrington and Wigan forward Jerome Guisset, now with the Perpignan-based Dragons, will captain the side in its last game before the October 25-November 22 Rugby League World Cup in Australia.

The last time France played Great Britain in June 2007, a game the French lost 42-14, there were only five Super League players in their ranks.

"Players from the Catalan Dragons, Leeds and Harlequins RL are in the middle of their sporting season. They're on top form," said team manager Gilles Dumas.

"As for players based with clubs in the French Elite division, they have followed a specific program since the end of the championships, with Friday's game as the goal, to keep themselves at the same level of fitness as their team-mates.

"On Friday, the French side, despite some injuries, will be ambitious," Dumas said.

The quartet of Maxime Greseque, Christophe Moly, Jarred Taylor and Dimitri Pelo were not considered for selection because of injuries.
