Small forward Mark LeCras, one of West Coast's best players this season, has signed a two-year contract extension with the AFL team.

LeCras was coming out of contract at the end of next year but the Eagles have locked him in until the end of 2012.

The 22-year-old small forward has kicked 49 goals in 18 matches this season.

He made his senior debut in 2005 and has played 54 games for the Eagles.

"I believe our club is at a very exciting stage of its development and I am obviously keen to be a part of our plans to push towards the finals again," LeCras said in a statement.

"We have a great squad, with a good mix of young guys as well as senior players, and we have seen in the last couple of weeks that the future looks pretty bright."

LeCras has also spent some time in the midfield over the last few weeks.
