The Brumbies have lost 26-5 to the Hurricanes in their first Super rugby pre-season trial in Porirua near Wellington.

The home team scored four tries to the Brumbies' one.

The Hurricanes scored the first 26 points, before Brumbies lock Sitaleki Timani posted his team's only points just a few minutes before the end.

The Hurricanes led 7-0 at halftime after no points were scored in the opening quarter.

They added two converted tries in the third and scored their fourth in the final term.

The Hurricanes tries were scored by Hosea Gear, Charlie Ngatai, Dane Cole and Jason Eaton.

Aaron Cruden kicked two conversions and Willie Ripia one.

The Brumbies will play one more trial next Thursday in Canberra against NSW.
