Not even a win was enough to save Warriors prop Russell Packer from the axe with Jeremy Latimore elevated from the NSW Cup to play against the Sydney Roosters on Saturday.

Packer will turn out for feeder side Auckland Vulcans this weekend, with Latimore added to the side which registered its first NRL win of the year against Cronulla on Sunday.

Latimore will be part of a five-man bench for the Warriors, with Kiwi international Sam Rapira moving into the starting line-up to replace Packer.

Hooker Alehana Mara will also turn out for the Vulcans after being 18th man against the Sharks, with second rower Matt Robinson rewarded for his good form in the NSW Cup with an NRL call-up.
