Melbourne life a struggle for Champion

Beau Champion admits he's might not remain at Melbourne at the end of the NRL season because he's missing his family too much.

The centre, who moved from South Sydney at the start of the season to allow the Rabbitohs to fit Greg Inglis into their salary cap, is struggling to adapt to life away from Sydney.

"From a football side of things life couldn't be better, the club is a fantastic one, the professionalism and the coaching are the best I have experienced, but being away from my family is making life hard for me," Champion told AAP.

Champion signed a three-year deal, but with a clause that he could leave the Storm after a year should he fail to settle.

"I have been up front from day one with the club and they have been great with me," he said.

"Craig Bellamy said he completely understands my situation, but to give it a few months and that is what I am doing.

"My girlfriend is moving down next week which is going to be great as we can discover more of Melbourne together, and the guys here have been fantastic, but a lot of them have their own families so I have been hanging out with the younger guys."

Champion's manager Sam Ayoub, met with Gold Coast earlier this week to discuss a potential move and the 25-year-old said he would be interested in a switch to south-east Queensland.

"Sam just had a meeting up there just to check it out, I have a heap of family along the coast up there and I would be interested in playing for the Titans," he said.

"I am not saying I will definitely leave Melbourne, but at the moment I would say the position is 50-50.

"My first-choice would be to play in Sydney, but I have to look after myself and do what is best for my future."
