Cronulla discard Josh Hannay has signed with an English club two rungs below the top flight Super League.

National League Two club Celtic Crusaders have announced the signing of the former Queensland centre until the end of the 2008 season.

The 27-year-old Hannay has been playing for the Gymea Gorillas in Sydney since being axed by the Sharks earlier this year.

"Signing Josh is very much a coup for the Crusaders," chief executive David Thompson said.

"Bringing in players of his calibre underlines just how far we have come as a club in our short history."

Hannay is in line to make his debut for the second-placed Crusaders against Keighley on Saturday.

Celtic are aiming to be one of two clubs promoted to National League One.

"We're really pleased to have secured Josh's services," coach John Dixon said.

"He is a quality player and I'm sure that our supporters will enjoy watching him in action."
