Teenage qualifier Maria Sharapova has stunned top seed and fellow Russian Elena Dementieva 2-6 7-6 6-2 in the quarter-finals of the Edgbaston Open tennis tournament.
Ranked 125 in the world, Sharapova justified the Wimbledon wildcard she got this week by reaching her first WTA Tour semi-final, where she faces Shinobu Asagoe of Japan.
The other semi features Bulgaria's Magdalena Maleeva and Eleni Daniilidou of Greece.
