Dragons' Weyman facing one-game ban

St George Illawarra prop Michael Weyman is facing a one-match ban after being hit with a high-tackle charge by the match review committee.

The in-form front rower was found to have a case to answer after collecting Parramatta rival Fuifui Moimoi with a swinging arm across in the face in Friday night's 22-8 win to the Dragons.

Weyman is paying the price for his bad-boy past with the grade one careless high-tackle charge carrying only a 75-point base penalty, which would not have been enough to see him miss Saturday night's clash against Newcastle.

But loading from three prior offences over the last two years - including one similar transgression - boosted his penalty to beyond the 100-point mark at which a one-week suspension kicks in.

Melbourne fullback Billy Slater was cleared of any wrongdoing over his controversial sliding tackle on Penrith winger Shane Elford, but the same could not be said for Storm teammate Will Chambers.

Chambers was charged with a dangerous throw for his ungainly lifting tackle on Panthers fullback Lachlan Coote, though the Melbourne centre can avoid suspension with an early guilty plea.

It's the same for North Queensland hooker Aaron Payne, who will also be cleared to make the trip to Adelaide to play Cronulla on Sunday with an early guilty plea.

Payne was charged with for unnecessary arm/shoulder pressure, an manoeuvre more commonly known as the chicken wing.

All players have until midday Tuesday to enter their pleas.
