Weyman suspended for four weeks

Prop Michael Weyman will miss four NRL matches for St George Illawarra after entering an early guilty plea to his dangerous tackle charge.

Weyman risked six weeks on the sideline if he contested the charge for an ugly spear tackle on Wests Tigers fullback Wade McKinnon during Friday night's 34-10 Dragons victory at WIN Jubilee Oval.

With the charge hanging over him, the Dragons prop was not selected by NSW for next week's third State of Origin after playing in the first two games of the series.

Newcastle prop Ben Cross has opted to contest a charge of making contact with a referee during his team's 24-16 win over the Gold Coast on Sunday, even though he would have escaped a ban with an early guilty plea.
