Key forward Brad Fisher is the biggest name among seven players cut from AFL club Carlton's list.

Fisher had played 99 games for the Blues since his 2003 debut, but a knee reconstruction restricted him to only one senior appearance this season.

The Blues also axed Joe Anderson, Steven Browne, Melbourne recruit Chris Johnson, Rhys O'Keefe, Caleb Tiller and rookie-listed player Josh Donaldson.

They promoted Jeff Garlett, David Ellard and Simon White from the rookie list.

Richard Hadley and Simon Wiggins have retired, while Andrew Collins (Richmond) and Jeremy Laidler (Geelong) joined Carlton as Sam Jacobs (Adelaide) and Shaun Grigg (Richmond) left during trade week.
