Midfielder Travis Johnstone, forwards Russell Robertson and Aaron Davey and utilities Daniel Bell and Matthew Whelan will bolster the Demons three weeks out from the finals.

Ryan Ferguson is out with a knee injury and Lynden Dunn, Shannon Motlop, Chris Johnson and Nathan Brown were dropped.

The Kangaroos regained Glenn Archer, who has missed five weeks with a shoulder injury, and promoted Ed Lower.

West Coast recalled Drew Banfield and Brett Jones for the `Gabba game against Brisbane, with Daniel Chick suspended and Ashley Hansen sidelined by a calf muscle injury.

The Lions' four inclusions featured captain Michael Voss and Irish recruit Colm Begley, who will make his AFL debut.

Josh Drummond and Jared Brennan also return.

Brisbane axed Scott Harding, Martin Pask, Ben Fixter and Marcus Allan.

Carlton promoted rookie Jesse Smith for his AFL debut and recalled Simon Wiggins, with Luke Blackwell and Jordan Russell omitted.
