South Sydney have re-signed veteran forward Luke Stuart until the end of next year's NRL season.

Stuart, 31, will enter his eighth season with the Rabbitohs after agreeing to a one-year contract extension.

Souths said Stuart had decided to stay loyal and remain with the Rabbitohs despite fielding offers from other NRL clubs.

"I'm really happy to be staying at Souths," Stuart said.

"I've been here since 2002 and I've seen some tough times but I believe we're heading towards some much better times with the club."

Rabbitohs chief executive Shane Richardson said he was pleased to re-sign Stuart, who he described as the club's most consistent player.

"He never shirks the hard work, he does his job every time he pulls on the red and green jersey and he is an integral part of our first grade side," Richardson said.
