Defending champions St Helens ran in eight tries to beat Catalans Dragons 42-8 on Sunday to reach the Challenge Cup quarter-finals.

Francis Meli, Paul Wellens and Gary Wheeler all scored two tries each as Saints moved within two games of a fourth successive final appearance.

Paul Clough and Leon Pryce also touched down for the Super League leaders, who will now travel to Gateshead in the quarter-finals.

Super League Hull KR saw off Sheffield 34-24 and will now play Warrington, one of three top-flight sides - along with Huddersfield and Salford - who enjoyed comfortable victories over lower-division opposition.

Richie Mathers marked his debut with two of Warrington's 10 tries in a 56-8 defeat of Featherstone.

Shaun Lunt scored a hat-trick as Huddersfield, who now face Castleford, eased past Rochdale 38-12.

Mark Henry scored four tries as Salford booked a date with Wigan with a 66-4 crushing of Batley.
