Reds boss annoyed by WA target claims

Queensland Rugby Union boss Theo Psaros is heading to South Africa this week amid growing fears that internationals Nathan Sharpe and Ben Tune are heading west.

The ninth-placed Reds are in Cape Town preparing for this weekend's Super 12 match against the Stormers with a much needed win on the menu.

But the future of a number of out of contract Reds targetted by the new West Australian Super 14 franchise has continued to be an "annoying" distraction for Psaros.

He heads for South Africa on Wednesday amid speculation WA's prime target and acting Reds skipper Sharpe could become a major signing for WA coach John Mitchell.

Former Wallabies winger Tune, who is in the Reds squad in Cape Town, is likely this week to confirm a move to Perth.

On Monday Psaros said he expected Tune to make a decision on his future soon.

"As for the others, the game continues," he said.

"We're not holding a gun to any one's head. I'd much prefer these guys were concentrating on getting up the better end of the ladder."

WA has spoken to Wallabies lock Sharpe, Tune, lock Hugh McMeniman, prop Greg Holmes, hooker Steve Moore, centre Junior Pelesasa and fly half Scott Daruda.

"I'll get there and talk to the guys and see where they sit," Psaros said.
