Queensland prop James Slipper has been cited to appear before a SANZAR judicial hearing for a dangerous tackle which saw him sin-binned in the Reds' 30-25 win over the Lions in Johannesburg.

Slipper was yellow-carded in just the sixth minute of Sunday morning's (AEDT) Super Rugby clash for lifting and spearing Lions hooker Bandisa Maku into the Ellis Park surface.

The young Wallabies front-rower will front a tribunal hearing in Cape Town on Monday.

Both Slipper and Reds skipper James Horwill (professional foul) were sin-binned in the opening 25 minutes of the match as the Lions racked up an 11-0 lead before Queensland pegged their way back to 14-10 at halftime.

Halves Will Genia and Quade Cooper took control of the match after the break with Cooper and tackle-shedding three-quarter Ioane scoring tries to push the lead to 30-19 before a late Lions fightback.
