St George Illawarra prop Michael Weyman will miss Saturday night's NRL match against Newcastle after taking the early guilty plea on a high tackle charge.

Weyman was charged after collecting Parramatta prop Fuifui Moimoi across the face with a swinging arm in the Dragons' 22-8 win on Friday night.

Loading from prior offences bumped up his points penalty to a one-match ban, his loss a severe test of the Dragons' front row depth ahead of the Knights clash.

Weyman has been one of the Dragons best over the club's strong start to the season, the former Canberra enforcer averaging 141 metres and 24 tackles per game.

Melbourne centre Will Chambers and North Queensland hooker Aaron Payne also accepted early guilty pleas over dangerous thrown and chicken wing tackles respectively, though both are free to play this weekend.
