St Helens went to the top of the Super League on Monday with a late 22-10 win over Castleford while Warrington were knocked off the summit by Hull.

A last-gasp Francis Meli try and a Jamie Foster conversion earned St Helens their victory after they had trailed by eight points. But late scores from Ade Gardner and then Meli gave the hosts the points.

Tom Armstrong also scored two tries for the Saints and Rangi Chase, Stuart Jones while Jordan Thompson crossed for Castleford.

Hull recovered from 10-0 down for a 24-10 win that knocked Warrington off top spot.

Kirk Yeaman scored twice after Danny Houghton began the fightback at the Halliwell Jones Stadium and Will Sharp also scored.

Warrington had looked like consolidating their Super League lead after early tries from Joel Monaghan and Rhys Williams.

Champions Wigan eased past lowly Wakefield 26-0 with Sam Tomkins, Josh Charnley, Joel Tomkins, Pat Richards and Sean O'Loughlin all scoring.
