The London Report

It’s been a bloody hectic time in old London town.

I stayed up late to watch Sydney beat West Coast. What a great game. If we get a grand final like that we’ll be lucky, although it’s more likely we’ll get a shit one, end up getting bored at half time and start doing BBQ lighting tricks. My favourite is setting a 6 foot, petrol “wick”, lighting it and watching the fun ensue. Or dipping a tennis ball in kero and start up a quick game of extreme cricket.

Then I got to see the Mighty Storm take it one step closer. God I hate League but I love taking a Sydney trophy so go Storm go.

Over to Italy to see Formula One sink lower into the circus it has started to become. (on TV, I didn’t go there). Is it just me or is Mosley getting crazier. I wouldn’t be surprised if we read an article in 5 years time that he contracted some brain bug in 2003 and hasn’t been able to make a rational decision since. Poor bloody Alonzo, he is having a shit season anyway, ok, he’s on top but it’s still not going to plan. While the German, stone-faced, emotionless freak gets closer to the crown and finishing off his retirement as planned.

I am an F1 fan so I guess it is exciting to have a 2 man shoot out in a competition that regularly finishes in the 4th round. So I do approve of any alleged fixing or alleged manipulating that could or could not be going on. I’m just disappointed that Weber hasn’t woken up and got involved. I’m starting to think he isn’t Australian. So a message to your Mark, get done to the F1 bar and start working the angles. We won’t think less of you if you ……er….give poll position to Ernie, just get on that bloody podium and nothing else will matter.

I took a bus to Stanford Bridge to see the mighty Chelsea take down Charlton 8 days ago. I really love watching this team play. So many champions it is almost unfair. I was one of those saps who used to think, “I’d rather lose with honour than win unfairly”. Well screw that philosophy. That type of thinking was drummed into my head for 25 years by the Richmond Football Club and now I know why. They are losers. Winning is bloody great, I don’t care if they have paid for it, it’s still a win, a chance to celebrate and strut around like you own the place. Screw you Richmond. Finish 9th again and I’ll ……..barrack for you again next year. How can I stay mad at you?

I’m heading to Rio de Janeiro this week to do work and tick off one of the great sporting “have to’s” - Watch either Falmengo or Fluminensce play at home in the majestic Maracana stadium. Stay tuned for the London report next week where I find a Fluminense fan that looks so much like JLo I end up buying her shirt !!
