Member Spotlight on Dean Woodbury

1. Name: Dean Woodbury Jnr

2. Nickname(s): Booya, Buddha or Woodcock

3. High School: Northmead Performing Arts

4. What city are you living in: Rome (Leichhardt) Sydney

5. First Fanatics Tour: Mildura 1998

6. What do you do when you are not on tour: Professional Gambler

7. Favourite sporting moment while on tour with the Fanatics:

Seeing Kafelnikof drown in Brisbane after slaying Hewitt.

8. Favourite non-sporting moment while on tour with the Fanatics:

Reverse mugging muggers in Barcelona. I've still got his sunnies.

9. One sporting event you haven't been to but would love to attend:

That funny sport in Europe where they throw big cheeses down the hill and wipe people out.

10. Where would people find you at 3am on a regular Saturday night:

In bed, cause I always pick up!! (yea, right)

11. When you are on tour who is one person you hate rooming with & why:

Batesy, as he always nicks your money whilst your sleeping.

12. Which song will always get you dancing on the bar:

Footloose by Kenny Loggins

13. Favourite drink:

Fluffy Duck, closely followed by cola soda stream

14. Creation or evolution:

I actually subscribe to the theory that Bill Gates created everything and John Holmes was an overload error.

15. Coke or Pepsi:

Pepsi by a considerable margin, although it's well behind Schweppes Cola or the above mentioned cola soda stream.

16. Capitalist or Socialist:

I switch sides depending on the intelligence of the chick I'm talking to. If they're pretty dumb, they seem to like a guy saying how he cares for everyone and wants to make the world a better place. What I'm really saying is "when can I stop carrying on and take you home for one"?

17. Club or Pub:

Pub. The club scene is so 80's, all you'll find there are tossers, 16 y/olds and people who like smoke machines.

18. Which moment has the most significance in Australian sporting history, was it Cliff Young winning the Sydney to Melbourne marathon running in gumboots, Australia 2's winged keel, Pat Cash's checkered headband, the invention of the padded Torpedo bikepants for under rugby shorts, David Boons 56 tinnies on the flight to London, the collapse of the Hobart DevilsNBL franchise, Warrick Cappers pink Ferrari & mullet haircut or something else:

Definitely the 84 LA Olympics when Australia had a mascot called "Willie".

19. If you could invite 5 people to share a six pack of long necks with you would they be & why:

a. My dad, as he doesn't drink I could have his.
b. John Holmes, to compare the 2 'long necks'.
c. Prince, to ask him why he wrote a song about a raspberry Beret.
d. Bob Hawke, can he really scull as fast as they say.
e. One of those chicks who writes to Hustler, saying they are up for "anything". Do they exist?

20. Can you give the people of Australia a tip:

Back number 3 at Harold Park on Friday night

Thanks Dean, you are one of our nations finest.

  • Booya is certainly someone that the youth of our great country should be looking up to as a role model. There should be more like him!
